Non-Active Sportswear

I am such a sucker for sportswear. It's ironic actually because it's my favourite due to how comfortable it is to laze around in - the growing amount of sportswear I have does not correlate with the amount of exercise I do. On my days working from home you'll normally find me in a similar get up, so now that it's an actual trend it's perfect as I feel less sloppy nipping out for a coffee or grabbing lunch or popping to the post office (so adult of me).

Throwing on a simple leather gilet over the top makes me look like less of a brand whore IMO. I've now got my eye on this Fila T-shirt - *Jim Carrey voice* Somebody stop me!

Leopard Print and Red Lips

Sometimes the weather just calls for a floaty skirt. A warm day with a light breeze is all it takes for me to drag my beloved Whistles 'Carrie' skirt out from the back of the wardrobe - do you remember when they came out a few years back and literally everyone had one? When midis officially became a thing . Teaming it was a casj grey crop and a slick of red lippy created the smart/casual vibe I was after. Also my latest shoes steal had their first public outing and they are so so comfy - definitely worth a purchase if you can get your hands on them!

That 70s Skirt

Top - Topshop // Skirt - ASOS // Trainers - Converse
Earrings - Accessorize // Necklace - H&M

This skirt has been everywhere this season. Like, literally everywhere. The A-line denim button-through seems to be pretty much the 'it' shape for the summer and I'm all over it. I had my eye on this one from ASOS when I saw it in the magazine last issue and knew I had to have it. One thing I have to say is the quality on the material is so good, better than any I've seen on the high street, something I was not expecting for an online store.

The fit is super flattering however I feel obliged to warn you - this skirt is a rider, I'm constantly pulling it back down, I feel like if I didn't it would end up somewhere around my boobs.

Also a quick shout out to this jumper which I nabbed in the Topshop sale. It was the only one in my size in Topshop Stratford, just sitting there waiting for me.

I feel like this kind of outfit is perfect for this time of season, especially in the UK, and if it gets really cold again, I can just through on some tights and ankle boots.

Transitioning the jumpsuit.

Jumpsuit - River Island // Top - H&M
Jacket - Topshop // Trainers - Converse

We're in that annoying stage of the year when we're so over winter and all the coldness that comes with it,  but warmer climes are so far away. And while we wish we could launch into new season dressing, we're wrapped firmly in our coats and layers for the love of our health.

The thought of wearing this jumpsuit with no layer underneath in this weather... *shudders* I literally couldn't think of anything worse, so I teamed it up with my favourite lil' stripy crop top. Et voila, a perfectly wearable transitional outfit.

The pink coat with the fur, the (faux) fur

A pink coat. When this trend came about last autumn/winter I was so not about it, sticking steadfast to my parka for casual and my monochrome for slightly more presentable times. But then I saw this beauty in the Zara sale online this January and with a sweet £50 off I ordered it ASAP. I was finally in possession of a pink coat - just a year behind the trend. I love the versatility of this one; it dresses up a super-casj outfit and finished off a sweet/chic look. Here's how I'll wear it day and night.

The Birthday Suit

Coat - H&M // Treggings - Zara // Scarf - Aldo // Hat - Aldo
Bag - Chanel

After a kind of rambly post on Monday, (the kind of reflective crap you spout on your birthday after a couple of glasses of bucks fizz), I thought I'd bring it back to light with an outfit post.

I think it's now a time-honoured tradition for me to wear a hat on my birthday. Strange I know, but I'm strange - and I got this hat along with the scarf for Christmas, so it was only right that I gave it it's first outing. It does remind me slightly of Pharrell's notorious hat, but whatevs.

The Boot Edit

A bit of booty love here on the blog today. I genuinely live in ankle boots all year round but I am especially attached to them during the colder months (like any sane person would be!)

Surprise, surprise three of them are from Topshop but only one pair is new...ish so it's not as bad!

Cropped.

Top - H&M // Skirt - ASOS // Bag - Mulberry
Shoes - Office // Necklace - Topshop
Rings - ASOS

Can we just take a moment to appreciate my ankle tan? LOLZ. This is clearly what happens when you  wear skinny ankle grazers and sandals as your staple summer attire.

I'm so normally not a flash of stomach kinda gal, but I'm really starting to appreciate the whole (slightly) cropped top and high-waisted skirt combo - especially with a good a-line skirt. I'm still wary of the crop top x high-waisted jeans thing though. I'm definitely a but too hippy to pull it off, I think only a select few could, really.

I'm still trying to wear these loafers in. I got them from my big sister for my birthday last December but they are still a bitch to wear for longer than a few hours. Why can't it just be simple?

WIWTW #7

Coat - H&M // Top - Miss Selfridge // Jeans - Topshop
Boots - Topshop

I'm getting quite good with these grown-up coat thingys. I especially love this one because I'm kind of obsessed with navy and love the way it fits - not oversized, but moveable.

It originally had buttons on the sleeve as well but I felt like they were a bit much so I cut them off and sewed the material back. These photos were taken last week, and the weather would have us believe that this will be to thick to wear from here on in... but I'm not fooled.

WIWTW #2

Dress - ASOS // Necklace - H&M
Tights - M&S

This dress was my ASOS sale purchase of the month. It fits the way that I want it to, is made of good material (read - isn't see-through) and is true to colour, but the best part was that it was just £14. I mean, crazy good right?

It also makes me feel slightly more professional. In our office, like many mags, anything really goes - I'm sure they'll draw the line at like a latex bodysuit, or even worse, a Kappa tracksuit - so sometimes it's easy to throw an outfit together that's a bit 'meh'. However, this dress is perfect to throw on because it's kind of impossible to not look office appropriate.

Major plus for the elastic waistband that allowed for the jacket potato I had at lunch.

What I Wore To Work #1

Top - H&M // Hat - Accessorize // Trousers - American Apparel

So I'm gonna try a new thing... work outfit posts. Having a lovely workmate who is also a blogger is super handy to take outfit posts for each other so hopefully if we can keep it up, there will be a few outfit posts up a week. (I mean, I'm gonna give it a good go). So from now on, pictures in any WIWTW posts (not a mouthful at all) will be taken by Sarah from The Fashion Ache. Check out her blog, it's amaze.

N.B I don't know why my disco pants look purple. The light's weird. Blame the light.

A Grown-Up Coat

Coat - Oasis // Jeans - Topshop // Top - H&M // Boots - Topshop

So it had to happen. I'm almost a fully fledged adult on the career ladder and that so it was about time I started to look a bit more adult-like; well at least sometimes right? So since I started my job I've been on the look out for my perfect coat. I had a few requirements it had to meet...

- No wacky colours
- Midway between bum and knee-length
- Not too many bells and whistles
- No hood
- Not collarless

You know, just a few.

Now, I don't often venture into Oasis (I actually don't know why) and technically I didn't see this in Oasis, it was on Asos. Do ever see something that you really really like, but can't bring yourself to buy it, so you just go back to the site and look at it everyday? Well that's what I did. I'd gotten so used to being a scrimpin' student that I literally couldn't bring myself to buy it!

It wasn't until I past the Oasis store on Argyll St and decided to try it on on a whim that I fell absolutely in love. It's so me yet unlike me at the same time. LOVE.

OOTD - Stripes and Navy

Jacket - ASOS // Top - H&M // Skirt - Primark
Boots - Topshop // Watch - Michael Kors // Necklace - Diva @ Miss Selfridge

First off, my top is back to front. I realised that when I was doing my make up, but kind of dug the high neckline so I kept it that way. I know, I'm so cutting edge.

Secondly, when I put this on my mum told me I looked a bit like a grandma.

That's all.

Wishlist... Hell For Black Leather.

So despite many of us trying to cling on to the sunshine with the tips of our brightly varnished talons, it’s time that we embrace autumn with a welcome grimace and wrap ourselves against the cold in the A/W trends we saw hit the catwalks for this season.

One of my favourite things to wear in A/W, (ok, make that all year round), is leather. Cropping up in so many designers collections and trends; punk, rebel, ‘boy meets girl’ etc, leather adds some serious sex appeal to any outfit and you can add depth to an outfit by layering textures, and if you keep it black, well that’s as classic as it is badass.

I find mixing leather with different softer fabrics works the best, head to toe leather is for the extremely brave, most people cannot pull this off without looking like a gimp, and most people do not want to look like a gimp… at least not in public. For instance a faux leather bustier would look gorgeous layered under a sheer or lace tunic or shirt loosely tucked into a high-waisted skirt.

On the other end of the spectrum and a true indulgence of a piece is this gorgeous body-con jersey and faux leather dress by Cédric Charlier. Sexy and classic, team it with metallic accessories like a gold statement necklace and heels. Cédric Charlier’s gorgeous collection can be found on one of my new favourite websites Avenue 32.

To bring the leather effect to everyday work wear pair this Dotty P leather effect panelled top with tapered black trousers or skinny jeans. And for everyday wear this T by Alexander Wang leather sleeved jacket is perfect to throw on to toughen up a winter floral dress.

These faux leather trousers and a delicate cami would make a perfect date outfit, especially with some leather court shoes to complete the look. Kurt Geiger never fail to impress in the boot department and these are just one of the four (ok, six) pairs I have my eye on. Though I’m still iffy about embracing the over the knee boots, the knee-high boot train is something I’m ready to get aboard.

How will you be embracing leather this season?

Boucle + Leather

Jacket - Zara // Vest - Primark // Trousers - H&M // Shoes - Office
Necklace - H&M // Sunglasses - Marks & Spencer // Bag - Chanel

Hello lovelies!

How sunny was it this weekend? Even though I was mainly dissertation-ing (It's due in less than a month now!) I did get out to enjoy a few rays. Despite the sun, it wasn't the warmest day ever so I thought I would try out my faux leather trousers.

I was a bit dubious when I purchased these with images of Ross from Friends's mishap swarming my mind, but I bit the bullet nonetheless. I'm no the tiniest girl in the world so I wanted some that had a bit of give and these H&M ones were the best I found for £24.99, although it was heart-breaking to have to go a size up in them.

On an even sadder note, tomorrow I go back to uni after Easter break for my last few weeks as a student. I would love to know where those three years have gone!

Plain Grey Tee.

Tee, Jeans and Boots - Topshop // Necklace - H&M // Rings - Asos
Lipstick - Mac 'deep attraction'

Hello lovely people!

This t-shirt pretty much sums up the British weather at the moment! Plain and Grey. Can you believe it's technically Summer? Ridic!

Anyhow, I've wanted to dabble in the whole rolled-sleeve-tee trend for a while but I didn't think it would particularly suit my body type (tatties up top, bum down below); I felt like they looked painfully cool on the svelter but would look reeeeal bad on me.

But I found a way to wear it! Praise be to high-waisted jeans!

The Green Coat.

Coat - Zara // Dress - Primark // Belt - Topshop

Hey Girlies,

Have you ever impulse bought something in the sale because it was such a bargain, and then never ever worn it? No? Stop lying!

I'm pretty sure most girls have, and for me that purchase was this coat. I got it back in last years January sales when Zara were more generous with their mark-downs and I believe it was around £20. I liked it enough to buy it, but evidently not enough to wear it; until now. I think must have just taken me a year to feel grown up enough to wear such a coat!

What's your least worn impulse sale purchase?

Metal and Mint.

Hello there lovies!

Long time no speak! I'm so annoyed as I was happily fulfilling my New Year's to do list which included blogging more often and then... BLAM! The internet cut out! But I'm back and I thought I'd show you my beautiful new heels. I bought them when ASOS was doing 25% off for students and seen as I'm not going to be a student much longer (sob sob) I thought I'd do a little shopping.

I fell in love with them almost immediately, it's the metal heel that sold them to me. They are so unlike me though. I don't think I've owned a pair of heels without any kind of platform; I normally go for a chunkier heel. But I'm so glad I bought these. They make me feel classy just looking at them.

I envision wearing these on dates where the most walking that's involved is going to the car, then from the car to the restaurant then back to the car again as they aren't the comfiest.

Checked.

Hi Guys!

So I think I've found my perfect jeans. I've owned Topshop Jamie jeans before but I've always preferred the Leighs; they're more figure-hugging and stretchy, making them more comfortable.

However, I've always had a problem with the hips and ass situation and the Leighs are like hipsters and my hips are my widest point therefore they aren't the most flattering in that area; but I couldn't find any other skinnies that are as comfortable.

But I was determined. I took some of my birthday money and trolled the high street for some dark-wash comfortable, flattering, high waisted super-skinny jeans. But it was so difficult and I was in Topshop, defeated, just about to buy another pair of Leigh's when the Jamie jean caught my eye, I picked them up and they felt different. The label said something about 'new stretch technology' They're softer and more stretchy, not as stretchy as the Leighs but stretchy for denim, and they're high-waisted. So I tried them on.

And I'm never taking them off. It's love.
