Topshop Beauty

I don't think Topshop Beauty gets enough credit. The range is great. It's affordable with an unreal selection of products with fab colours and the formula is always on point too!

I dipped my toe in the Topshop Beauty pool when the range first came out years back with a lipstick and nail polish - that's all and to be honest,  the nail polish was a bit pants - it was streaky and chipped within a day. The lipstick on the other hand was the thing that had be coming back. The pigment, the staying power, everything! So I bought a few lippies (which have since become staples in my collection) but didn't really explore the rest of the range - until now. They are killing it y'all, here are a few of my fave Topshop Beauty buys.

Lipsticks in All About Me and Inhibition, £8 each  - All About Me was the aforementioned first lippy I got from Topshop and Inhibition (pictured above) is the smoky purple of dreams. The Topshop lipsticks are matte but so creamy and not at all drying.

Cream Blush in Dalliance, £7 - I love the muted colour of this blush. On my skintone it gives me a subtle healthy glow and is perfect for lazy weekend not-much-makeup kinda days.

The Concealer Palette, £12 - This palette comes with three different shades so you can mix and match for custom colour it also comes with a translucent powder to set it.

Contour Cream in Swerve, £10 - The Contour Cream comes in two colours now, Swerve being the darker one. and when I say dark I mean real dark, and therefore actually wearable for us brown girls. I love the consistency - it's highly-pigmented and creamy therefore easy to blend out. Because ain't nobody wanting contour stripes.

Smokey Eye Palette in Subversive, £12 - Twelve pounds for four awesome colours that create a bangin' smokey eye. Nuff said.

ASOS Pink Bomber

One of the perks of working on a magazine is that you get to see what's coming to stores before it hits the rack but it's also, for this reason, a massive negative too. You see I saw this bomber in the ASOS spring/summer lookbook before christmas and was eagerly waiting for it to hit the new in section for weeks and then it did and was almost an instant sell out. Luckily I nabbed the last size 18 - bear with me - despite being three sizes too big, I really wanted a loose fit so I risked it and snapped it up before it went. I'm so glad I did, it's my new fave. Expect to see it loads in the upcoming months!

Leopard Print and Red Lips

Sometimes the weather just calls for a floaty skirt. A warm day with a light breeze is all it takes for me to drag my beloved Whistles 'Carrie' skirt out from the back of the wardrobe - do you remember when they came out a few years back and literally everyone had one? When midis officially became a thing . Teaming it was a casj grey crop and a slick of red lippy created the smart/casual vibe I was after. Also my latest shoes steal had their first public outing and they are so so comfy - definitely worth a purchase if you can get your hands on them!

You Can't Touch This

Dress - Topshop // Earrings - Accessorize // Watch - Michael Kors

I'm so not a t-shirt dress kinda gal. While I've always wanted to be able to pull one off, I feel like they are for the svelte, gazelles of the world not big booty bitches like myself - they are rather shapeless. But when I saw this one in the Topshop sale, I could not resist - especially as it has one of my all time favourite song titles on the derriere.

I figured as this was in the sale I can totally rock it in the comfort of my own home/to casual occasions until I'm ready to take it to the streets without feeling total buyers guilt.

That 70s Skirt

Top - Topshop // Skirt - ASOS // Trainers - Converse
Earrings - Accessorize // Necklace - H&M

This skirt has been everywhere this season. Like, literally everywhere. The A-line denim button-through seems to be pretty much the 'it' shape for the summer and I'm all over it. I had my eye on this one from ASOS when I saw it in the magazine last issue and knew I had to have it. One thing I have to say is the quality on the material is so good, better than any I've seen on the high street, something I was not expecting for an online store.

The fit is super flattering however I feel obliged to warn you - this skirt is a rider, I'm constantly pulling it back down, I feel like if I didn't it would end up somewhere around my boobs.

Also a quick shout out to this jumper which I nabbed in the Topshop sale. It was the only one in my size in Topshop Stratford, just sitting there waiting for me.

I feel like this kind of outfit is perfect for this time of season, especially in the UK, and if it gets really cold again, I can just through on some tights and ankle boots.

Denim x Tartan x Denim

Jacket - Topshop // Shirt - Topshop // Pinafore - Primark
Sunnies - Topshop // Boots - Office
Bag - Mulberry

Double denim. Personally this trend has never offended me but I know a lot of people detest it. I get that it can look like a throwback to the 90s if done incorrectly, but I think as long as it’s worn with conviction, you’re fine. By this I mean if you look like you’re unsure of what you’re wearing others will be too.

I’m not sure of the official double denim dos and don’ts but my theory is that it’ll always be likely to work more when you’re wearing two different colour washes – only the brave should try matchy-matchy double denim in my opinion.

Also these are my favourite sunglasses ever, I think. I literally feel so retro wearing them... and they’re rose gold – swoon.

Transitioning the jumpsuit.

Jumpsuit - River Island // Top - H&M
Jacket - Topshop // Trainers - Converse

We're in that annoying stage of the year when we're so over winter and all the coldness that comes with it,  but warmer climes are so far away. And while we wish we could launch into new season dressing, we're wrapped firmly in our coats and layers for the love of our health.

The thought of wearing this jumpsuit with no layer underneath in this weather... *shudders* I literally couldn't think of anything worse, so I teamed it up with my favourite lil' stripy crop top. Et voila, a perfectly wearable transitional outfit.

Say it with your chest...

Slogan sweaters and t-shirts are my favourite way to make a fashion statement. My absolute favourites are my Biggie tee from F21, and my Celfie top that every girl and her mum has. My Biggie tee has since gone AWOL (major sob) and I'm currently hankering for a new sweater/t-shirt to be obsessed with. Faux Sake is all kinds of awesome. Want.

The pink coat with the fur, the (faux) fur

A pink coat. When this trend came about last autumn/winter I was so not about it, sticking steadfast to my parka for casual and my monochrome for slightly more presentable times. But then I saw this beauty in the Zara sale online this January and with a sweet £50 off I ordered it ASAP. I was finally in possession of a pink coat - just a year behind the trend. I love the versatility of this one; it dresses up a super-casj outfit and finished off a sweet/chic look. Here's how I'll wear it day and night.

Caped Crusader

Cape – Next // Jumper – Topshop

I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t sure about the whole cape thing. Call me crazy but the idea of wearing something favoured by superheroes and the like wasn’t my cup of tea... that was until I received this beauty for Christmas. I love how huge the turtleneck is and the shoulders give it a lil’ something extra.

It’s still a bit chilly over here, but it’s the perfect layering piece for this time of year – I teamed it with a fine knit jumper.

Cape convert here, people.

The Boot Edit

A bit of booty love here on the blog today. I genuinely live in ankle boots all year round but I am especially attached to them during the colder months (like any sane person would be!)

Surprise, surprise three of them are from Topshop but only one pair is new...ish so it's not as bad!

The last of the summer... crop tops?

Top + Jeans + Jacket + Boots - All Topshop
Chain - Gift // Ear cuff - Accessorize

I’ve never really been that big on crop tops. No, seriously, not even in my Spice Girls super fandom period. But this summer I was so drawn to them and extremely into their waist-nipping abilities. You see being a big-booty one (that’s the kind way of saying it) and having not the smallest of chesticals, means that my waist is the one thing that shows that I am not in fact huge, so I should definitely show it off more often than I do.

Alas, the summer is over and the crop tops have to be folded away, but I couldn’t help pick this one up on a jaunt to Toppers. You see I think I can get away with it because it’s from the Topshop Tall range therefore shows the minimum amount of midriff, if any at all. With the Topshop Jamie jeans you get a flash of stomach but with the Jonis you don’t get any. I'll be trying to keep this one out 'til December...

P.s how beaut are my new autumn/winter boots? It’s love.

WIWTW #10

Jumper – Primark // Skirt – ASOS // Necklace – Diva @ Miss Selfridge
Bag – Mulberry // Boots – Topshop

You know when you think ‘It's autumn, let me pull on the black tights and big jumper…’ but the weather has other ideas? Yeah that was me on this precise day and as I type this I’m sitting freezing in a cap-sleeve blouse. Brilliant.

WIWTW #9

Dungaree Dress - Primark // Top - River Island //
Shoes - Topshop // Hairband - Topshop

This outfit received a few unsolicited comments when I wore it in on Tuesday. One of which was that I looked younger (18 apparently) and other was that I reminded someone of the Statue of Liberty, neither which I was particularly aggrieved by.

The only thing that bothers me about this outfit is that I have no idea where the waistband of this dungaree dress is suppose to bloody sit - because it's definitely (annoyingly) not the waist.

WIWTW #8

Coatigan - Warehouse // Vest - Topshop // Jeans - Topshop
Necklace - Diva @ Miss Selfridge // Shoes - Office

Ahh the return of What I Wore To Work. Ever since my partner in crime, Sarah, left work, I’ve kind of let my outfit posts slip but I’ve enlisted  another lovely co-worker, Annie to help me with outfit snaps.
I’m so awkward when it comes to transitional dressing but this coatigan is making it a lot easier. It can literally be thrown other anything.

Also three cheers to me breaking in my loafers - no more plasters! Hurrah!

Culling Crayons...

I used to love drawing with chunky crayons when I was little. Nothing got a three year old Keeks more excited than a big blank page and a packet of fresh Crayola’s (except maybe my Barbie dream house), so of course when beauty haulin’ I naturally gravitate towards these bad boys.

For me lip crayons are the ideal hybrid of a lipstick and a lip pencil - easy and foolproof for even the biggest makeup novice. I’ve tried many over the years but these four have stuck in my collection, all serving different purposes...

My initial foray in the lip crayon game was with the Clinique Chubby Stick, which was probably many people’s first. This crayon is the balmiest I own and what I slick on for a tint of colour and a hint of moisture. The original formulation comes in 18 shades, the Intense range, which offers a stronger colour pay off, comes in 10 and they’ve recently brought out the Baby Tint, which is less colour and more moisture. They aren’t cheap at £17 but they are kind of the crème de la crème of the lip crayon word and, if you have the dollar, they are worth the splurge.

For a statement matte lip (but seriously matte) I reach for my Topshop lip crayon. A more precise hand is required for this one but once you have the application down, it’s a great matte blue-toned red – I think the one I have has been discontinued but the lip bullet in wine gum is a pretty good match . My other matte crayon is from Bite and I picked it up from Sephora in Miami. I hadn’t heard about the brand because it’ not available in the UK (unless, of course you order it from Sephora) but it was the packaging that had me. I wanted everything. No joke. For me this is a fab semi-matte and the colour (rhubarb) works great as a nude lip for me.

Me final crayon is a real good’un. The Soap & Glory sexy motherpucker gloss stick is unlike any other, because, well, it’s glossy. The colour I have is Raplumsel and is a deep plummy raspberry. It possesses the ability to make a face look ‘done’ with a swipe on the lips. The formula is creamy rather than sticky and so avoids the whole lipgloss in hair sitch. J’adore.

Tassels and Rips.

Vest - Topshop // Waistcoat - TJ Maxx (in Miami) // Jeans - Topshop
Boots - New Look // Bag - Chanel // Necklace - Topshop
Earrings - Topshop

I've joined the ripped jeans brigade. I resisted for so so long but I was forced to buy them. So here's the story, my dark wash jamie jeans were actually ripped and falling apart (but not in a cool way) so I went into Topshop to get a new pair, only to be told that that colour is a A/W colour! Sorry I didn't know blue jeans were only 'in' in Autumn... anywho, I needed another pair of jeans and wasn't going to leave without them, so I thought, why not try something new. I mean the quality of the jean is the same, just with rips to give my knees room to breathe, right? And, well, I fell in love...

On a side note, I swear that the weather cannot make it's mind up lately - one minute it's baking hot, the next I'm shivering under a brolly. Happy summertime, eh?

Cropped.

Top - H&M // Skirt - ASOS // Bag - Mulberry
Shoes - Office // Necklace - Topshop
Rings - ASOS

Can we just take a moment to appreciate my ankle tan? LOLZ. This is clearly what happens when you  wear skinny ankle grazers and sandals as your staple summer attire.

I'm so normally not a flash of stomach kinda gal, but I'm really starting to appreciate the whole (slightly) cropped top and high-waisted skirt combo - especially with a good a-line skirt. I'm still wary of the crop top x high-waisted jeans thing though. I'm definitely a but too hippy to pull it off, I think only a select few could, really.

I'm still trying to wear these loafers in. I got them from my big sister for my birthday last December but they are still a bitch to wear for longer than a few hours. Why can't it just be simple?

The Full Lace Skirt

Crop top - Primark // Skirt - Forever 21
Heels - Topshop // Necklace - Gift

I'm back from Miami! It was so lush, and I will have a post up about it very soon! Until then take a look at my instagram, I popped up a few pics from my trip.

I did a little (lottle) bit of shopping while I was out there, and this skirt was one of my favourite purchases. It was $24 from Forever 21- such a bargain! At the current conversion rate that's about £15, now Forever 21 in the UK is cheap, but that cheap? Ummm no. As soon as I got it home I tried it with a few of my crop tops but this was definitely the pairing I liked the most, the contrast of casual with prim. I really want to team it with a breton stripe crop, which I have, but the length is a bit long and you don't get the hint of flesh that I love.

Also - how gorgeous was it yesterday? I took today off to recover from my break and get me ready for returning to work tomorrow.
