The Friday Five #3

New Year. New Kicks
What better way to start a brand new year than with a pair of box fresh trainers? Every time a pair of Stan Smiths past me I would look at them longingly but then remind myself not to be a sheep – then, then I joined the flock. I like to convince myself that I’m totally different because mine are ALL white and I haven’t seen anyone with those yet…

Making a Murderer
If you haven’t heard about this show yet, where on Earth have you been? It’s the real life case of Steven Avery and his conviction of murder, which was made without any DNA evidence and a single witness statement from his nephew with learning difficulties. He was falsely accused of sexual assault previously and spent 18 years behind bars before DNA proved him innocent. If you have access to Netflix (literally, befriend a neighbour if you have to) you need to watch this series and then let me know what you think!

The Carpet Coat
My ma bought me this huge thang from Zara for my birthday and it’s the softest thing ever. It’s massive and warm and when you wrap your arms around yourself it feels like you’re hugging a cloud. The only annoying thing is that it has no zips or buttons or belt so when it’s windy it’s like you’re in the Earth Song video.

The Coconut Latte from Starbucks
I don’t usually like posting negativity but you guys this drink sucks so hard! They need to rename it the CocoYUCK Latte. I tweeted about it and then the Daily Mail used my tweet (along with others) in a feature about how basically everyone hates it. Do not waste your money – you’ve been warned.

Being a tourist
Showing someone not from London around my city is one of my favourite things so I loved it when I got to take Sazzle (my work buddy) to Westminster for an event on Thursday. Her face when she saw Big Ben and the London Eye up close was just the best. It just reminds you not to take it for granted because London is pretty awesome.

Say it with your chest...

Slogan sweaters and t-shirts are my favourite way to make a fashion statement. My absolute favourites are my Biggie tee from F21, and my Celfie top that every girl and her mum has. My Biggie tee has since gone AWOL (major sob) and I'm currently hankering for a new sweater/t-shirt to be obsessed with. Faux Sake is all kinds of awesome. Want.

The pink coat with the fur, the (faux) fur

A pink coat. When this trend came about last autumn/winter I was so not about it, sticking steadfast to my parka for casual and my monochrome for slightly more presentable times. But then I saw this beauty in the Zara sale online this January and with a sweet £50 off I ordered it ASAP. I was finally in possession of a pink coat - just a year behind the trend. I love the versatility of this one; it dresses up a super-casj outfit and finished off a sweet/chic look. Here's how I'll wear it day and night.

DAY

Hat - ASOS // Boots - New Look // Necklace - Gift

The Birthday Suit

Coat - H&M // Treggings - Zara // Scarf - Aldo // Hat - Aldo
Bag - Chanel

After a kind of rambly post on Monday, (the kind of reflective crap you spout on your birthday after a couple of glasses of bucks fizz), I thought I'd bring it back to light with an outfit post.

I think it's now a time-honoured tradition for me to wear a hat on my birthday. Strange I know, but I'm strange - and I got this hat along with the scarf for Christmas, so it was only right that I gave it it's first outing. It does remind me slightly of Pharrell's notorious hat, but whatevs.

The Best Parka Ever.

Parka - Zara // Jeans - Topshop

So this may just be my favourite coat I have ever, ever bought. Sure it's not a real looker, but DAMN is it snug. I could be completely naked on my top half underneath and not feel the cold within an inch of my skin.

The inside is lined with fleecy goodness and the hood is so big that if I don't hold it, it covers my face down past my nose. Perfect for shielding my face waiting for my train home in the elements.

IT'S LOVE

Autumn Dungarees.

Dugarees - Primark // Top - Zara // Tights - Primark // Bag -Marc by Marc Jacobs
Boots - Zara // Watch - Michael Kors // Bracelet - Asos
Necklace - Topshop

It's easier than I thought making dungarees transition into Autumn/Winter. All I needed to add was a uniform of all black to make it wearable in these more colder months and ensure that I don't freeze half to death. Who would have thought a couple of months ago, I, a positive dungaree cynic since childhood, would be trying to find a way to rework them for Autumn. This is mind-blowing stuff people.

OOTD - The Faux Fur Gilet

Gilet - TK Maxx // Top - Zara // Jeans - Topshop
Earrings - ASOS // Long Necklace - Topshop // Short Necklace - Urban Outfitters
Watch - Michael Kors

As soon as Autumn falls upon us, I have a urge to break out the faux fur gilet. However, as much as I love it, I hardly ever seem to wear it! I go to put it on, spin around, shrug and then swap it for my trusty leather jacket. I think it's something to do with the lack of sleeves, it automatically makes me think I'll be cold.

I finally wore it out the other day though, granted I was driving to where I was going but still I did it, and I wasn't even that cold... much.

Bright Pink and Breezy

Dress - Topshop // Scarf - Zara // Sandals - Primark
Necklace - Primark // Watch - Michael Kors
Bag - Mulberry

Hello Peoples!

Now, I've never been much of a scarf gal. I wear them out of necessity in the winter and have been known to sport one to cover a mark on a much-loved top, but to accessorise an outfit... nope not so much!

However, since snapping up this bright beauty in the Zara sale for £9.99, I've worn it the death! I've even planned outfits around it. Crazy.

And worst of all now I want more scarves in a variety of colours! FML.

Boucle + Leather

Jacket - Zara // Vest - Primark // Trousers - H&M // Shoes - Office
Necklace - H&M // Sunglasses - Marks & Spencer // Bag - Chanel

Hello lovelies!

How sunny was it this weekend? Even though I was mainly dissertation-ing (It's due in less than a month now!) I did get out to enjoy a few rays. Despite the sun, it wasn't the warmest day ever so I thought I would try out my faux leather trousers.

I was a bit dubious when I purchased these with images of Ross from Friends's mishap swarming my mind, but I bit the bullet nonetheless. I'm no the tiniest girl in the world so I wanted some that had a bit of give and these H&M ones were the best I found for £24.99, although it was heart-breaking to have to go a size up in them.

On an even sadder note, tomorrow I go back to uni after Easter break for my last few weeks as a student. I would love to know where those three years have gone!

Neon.

Outfit - All old and new Topshop // Bag - Zara

Hey my lovelies!

Been uber quiet on the blogging front recently. Between having to read like 4 books a week for uni and and completely moving rooms at home (Hello en-suite shower) I've had no time to post! Boo!

But hopefully I'm going to get back into the swing of things now. I permanently borrowed this speckled white and neon yellow jumper from my mum, which she nabbed in the Topshop sale. I love love love wearing it with all dark colours to seriously brighten up an outfit.

In other news, I was thinking about doing a haircare video... maybe? Because it's something I've not spoken about on here before and thought it might interest at least one of you?

The Green Coat.

Coat - Zara // Dress - Primark // Belt - Topshop
Necklace - H&M // Watch - Michael Kors
Bracelet - ASOS

Hey Girlies,

Have you ever impulse bought something in the sale because it was such a bargain, and then never ever worn it? No? Stop lying!

I'm pretty sure most girls have, and for me that purchase was this coat. I got it back in last years January sales when Zara were more generous with their mark-downs and I believe it was around £20. I liked it enough to buy it, but evidently not enough to wear it; until now. I think must have just taken me a year to feel grown up enough to wear such a coat!

What's your least worn impulse sale purchase?

That Grey Jumper.

Jumper - Lyle & Scott // Jeans - Zara
Shoes - Kurt Geiger // Bag - Chanel // Earrings - ASOS
Rings - Topshop

Hey lovelies,

Is it just me or do any of you have that jumper that you wear with anything? For me it's definitely this jumper it's a mens medium so it's slouchy and oversized but not too much; and is so comfy. It's one of those that I can just throw on; simple as, no thought required.

Teaming it with my favourite platforms and favourite bag, I think I've created a new go-to smart casual outfit.

p.s Happy belated Valentine's day :)

Checked.

Shirt - Uniqlo // Vest - H&M // Jeans - Topshop
Boots - Office // Bag - Zara
Necklace - Urban Outfitters // Watch - Michael Kors
Rings - Topshop

Hi Guys!

So I think I've found my perfect jeans. I've owned Topshop Jamie jeans before but I've always preferred the Leighs; they're more figure-hugging and stretchy, making them more comfortable.

However, I've always had a problem with the hips and ass situation and the Leighs are like hipsters and my hips are my widest point therefore they aren't the most flattering in that area; but I couldn't find any other skinnies that are as comfortable.

But I was determined. I took some of my birthday money and trolled the high street for some dark-wash comfortable, flattering, high waisted super-skinny jeans. But it was so difficult and I was in Topshop, defeated, just about to buy another pair of Leigh's when the Jamie jean caught my eye, I picked them up and they felt different. The label said something about 'new stretch technology' They're softer and more stretchy, not as stretchy as the Leighs but stretchy for denim, and they're high-waisted. So I tried them on.

And I'm never taking them off. It's love.

A Black Hat and Red Lips.

Hat - Topshop // Vest - Zara // Cardigan - Aubin Wills
Jeans - Topshop // Gold bracelets - ASOS
Green Bracelet - A Gift // Boots - Topshop

Hey Girlies!

What is it about a hat that can transform an outfit? I really couldn't be asked with getting dressed (as you can probably tell with the black and brown overload). So I flung on this hat to add a little something to the outfit as well as a slick of red lippy, et voila, I look a tad more presentable (I hope).

I've pretty much done all of my Christmas shopping now as well as my boyfriend's 21st birthday present, which is on Christmas day. This all equals a very poor Keeks. However, I'm so so excited for Christmas and the fact that in 12 mere days IT'S MY 21st BIRTHDAY!

I have such fun plans for my birthday weekend and I hope to share some of it on my blog!

Spotted in the Dark.

Jacket - ASOS // Jumper - Tk Maxx
Jeans - Zara // Trainers - Converse // Necklace - H&M
Watch - Michael Kors

So as much as I love this time of year, I don't love the fact that when I wake up, it's pitch black. It doesn't entice me to wake up and it's the worst lighting to do your make up in (seriously got to uni once, went to the toilets, caught a glimpse of my face in the mirror and discovered I had scarlet cheeks. Not cool).

On top of this, I have all morning lectures this semester and it takes me an hour and a half to get to uni. it's the stuff of nightmares for real.

So you'd be surprised to know, as I was when I realised, that today I was ready 40 minutes early, but I got outside and thought "wait a minute it's still dark, this isn't right"so I utilised my mum's 'early-bird-ness' and got her to take these pictures.

I'm not really sure how they turned out half ok as I was basically still asleep. In fact the first picture is me falling asleep standing up.

But we can all rejoice as I have a free day tomorrow. Hell yeah.

Blue Boucle.

Jacket - Zara // Top - Topshop //
Jeans - Zara // Boots - Office // Bag - Vintage
Bracelet - Gift // Watch - Michael Kors

Hey Girlies,

I know it's approaching winter and I should be embracing all the lovely autumn/winter colours like khaki and oxblood (loooove oxblood!), I still can't completely let go of some of the lighter, brighter shades from seasons past.

This jacket is the only boucle style jacket that I own, and I love that it can smarten up an outfit quite effortlessly, which is handy for those of us that don't do smart easily.

These jeans are also a bit of a revelation. I was a faithful follower of the Topshop Leigh jeans sect, but after another pair failed on me, I had to look elsewhere. And I don't think I'll look back, I really love these Zara jeans. They're stretchier that the Leigh's and they fit my waist the one and only gripe I have with them is the ankle zip detail. They make them too hard the roll up, that's all.

One Dress, Two ways...

Dress - Topshop

Outfit 1
Jacket - Zara // Bag - Mulberry // Shoes - Topshop // Ring - Primark

Outfit 2
Denim Shirt, Necklace, Boots, Bag - All Topshop // Watch - Michael Kors // Ring & Tights - Primark

Hey girlies,

I bought this sleeveless shirt dress in the Topshop sale on an impulse as it was, a.) half price and b.) soooo pretty! but I neglected to think a.) I don't own much white because I'm extremely clumsy and b.) I'll probably never wear it...

I haven't worn it.

But that's only because I was scared, scared I'd stain it, scared I wouldn't find anything in my wardrobe to wear with it and scared it's a bit of a one season wonder. So I thought I'd alleviate my fears by dedicating a blogpost to it, to prove to myself that I can wear it! And although I 100% will spill something on this at some point in time, for now I'll enjoy it's versatility!

The Red Scarf.

Scarf - Vintage?? // Dress - Primark
Jacket - Topshop // Watch - Michael Kors
Bag - Zara // Boots - Topshop

Hello Lovies,

So I frickin' love this scarf! It was my nan's, but I've kind of permanently borrowed it from her... (with consent of course ;) ) It really adds a bit of colour to an otherwise plain outfit.

I wore this outfit last week when I was out and about with my mumma and like a total idiot I forgot it was summertime in England and left my brolly at home and ended up having to use my scarf to cover my hair as I ran back to the car. Such a 'mare!

Have any of you been caught out by the rain yet? Will it ever stop?
