This product has been out for absolutely ages, however I thought I’d make it my first review, because I find it such an odd product.
I bought it when I was looking for a new mascara and there was a promotion on in Boots where if you spend over £15 on MaxFactor you get a tin of 3 free minis. So I was drawn in. What can I say; I’m a sucker for a freebie.
I was really excited about it because I’ve never really been into lipstains, so I thought I’d give in a try. I got 06 Royal Plum, which is like a dark pinky/plum shade.
The Positives
- It’s definitely longlasting and pretty smearproof, which are qualities you want your lipstain to have.
- The colour stays true when you apply it.
- Quite easy to apply, it’s like colouring in with a felt tip pen - on your lips.
The Negatives
- Again, it’s like colouring in with a felt tip pen - on your lips. Feels odd.
- The lipstain clings to any dry patches and any change in texture on the lips.
- It can dry out your lips. When wearing it, I feel like I should coat it with a slick of Vaseline.
The Verdict
This product isn’t for everyone. Where my big sister loves it, I’m still a bit iffy about using it as a stand-alone lipstain. However what I have found is that it is a good base to build your lip colour on, whether it’s adding Vaseline or applying some lipstick of the same colour family on top it definitely gives your lips that extra oomph.
If you are interested in giving it a try you can get it from Boots here or Superdrug here.
